Shiplap & paint, phase IV of our fireplace makeover
The shiplap is up and the paint is on!
We got this shiplap at Home Depot. It’s make from particle board, so it’s less expensive than solid wood shiplap. The 16 foot pieces came in at just under $10 each. It looks great, is super straight (unlike some all wood boards) and is already primed. I’m super stoked that we were able to get lengths of this shiplap that would cover the wall in one piece. I wanted a really clean look, not a lot of cuts.
After the tile being so tricky to put up, this went up like a dream. All the edges were caulked for a clean finish, trim at the top and bottom, and we are ready for paint.
I ended up going with a darker moodier color – Benjamin Moore Azure Sea. I was a little scared and Sweet Baboo had to reassure me that it was the right color.
Boy was he right! I couldn’t love it more!
The mantel will be in later this week, along with the bench and coat hooks for the drop zone by the front door. Once everything is in place I’ll have lots of pictures and a cost breakdown of this project – it cost less than you might think. Stay tuned for the details.
