The Wicked Witch Inn
October 1st - time for some Halloween projects!
I saw a similar design at Hobby Lobby, and said "I think I can improve on that". I'm not knocking the mass produced seasonal decor, I have some of it too. But I like my decor to have a little more character if possible. Plus I always figure I can make it cheaper.
I keep a supply of old cabinet doors for just such purposes. I pick them up whenever I find them, and they are perfect for making signs.
I painted the door frame black and the inside panel white.
I did a combination of stencils and hand drawn artwork on this one. I cut the lettering on the Cricuit machine, I wanted the letters to be really crisp. I did the hat, bats and spider free hand, but you could cut a stencil for those too.
Once everything was dry I applied an antiquing glaze and distressed it - so it would look old and weathered.
Sweet Baboo attached the stair spindles as the front legs, and a piece of scrap wood with a small hinge for the back leg to form a tripod. I think it turned out really cute!
So make your reservation at The Wicked Witch Inn and stay for a spell!
More Halloween next time. Until then, Cheers!
